Why Join TYCCWA?"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead
What would happen if all the children and youth currently receiving care in Texas were being taken care of by dedicated, trained, professional workers? Do you think it would make a difference? We think it would make all the difference.
Quarterly NewsletterMembers receive the association's newsletter filled with updates on the state of the field, ideas for activities to use with youth, regular columns, articles describing children in care, and information on up-coming conferences. Agency members receive two (2) copies of each edition. For more information, visit the Directline Webpage. Youth Today: The Newspaper on Youth WorkTYCCWA members receive a 30% discount for an annual subscription (10 issues) to the Youth Today newspaper. Youth Today is the only independent, nationally distributed newspaper that goes out to more than 70,000 readers in the Child and Youth Services field. Instead of paying the normal subscription price of $18.50, TYCCWA members are offered the reduced rate of just $12. For more information, see the Youth Today website or phone the state office at (979) 764-7303. Reduced Rates at Conferences and WorkshopsMembers receive discounts at the yearly state-wide conference and at regional workshops. For information on scheduled events, visit the TYCCWA Events Webpage. Certification as a Child and Youth Care WorkerMembers are eligible to participate in the statewide certification program that gives workers a way to document training and competency. The program gives administrators a way to differentiate between qualified and unqualified workers. For more information, visit the Certification Institute Website. Membership in ACYCPTYCCWA is a full member of the Association for Child and Youth Care Practice (formerly NOCCWA). This provides national representation for Texas workers and entitles each member to receive a yearly copy of The Journal of Child and Youth Care Work and biannual copies of the ACYCP newsletter, Child and Youth Care Work. For more information, visit the ACYCP Website. Opportunity to ParticipateTYCCWA offers each of its members the opportunity to participate in the development of the child care profession. TYCCWA provides a way for concerned practitioners to work together to expand career opportunities, share resources, develop training and education programs, conduct research, establish certification programs, and most importantly, improve the services available to all of our children. Contact the state office at our e-mail address (TYCCWA state office) to let us know what you would like to help with. We are always looking for conference speaker, committee members and volunteers to help with various projects. |
